MIT 202G (Winter 2005)   The History of Communication

Course Description
The course examines communication throughout history. It explores the relationship of communication media and technologies to society and culture. The course covers the history of different communication media, such as the printing press, telegraph, radio and television broadcasting, film and sound recording, and the Internet.

Prerequisites: MIT 025a/b, MIT 026a/b, and Computer Science 031a/b, or permission of the Faculty. Registration in the second, third or fourth year of an MIT program.

2 lecture hours and 1 tutorial hour, 0.5 course

RESTRICTED TO YRS 2, 3 & 4 MIT, SCHOLARS ELECTIVES AND SPECIAL STUDENT IN MIT.
