Course Description
People have played games throughout recorded history, but only recently have games been studied seriously as media of expression and social interaction. This course presents an introduction to the history of gaming, from ancient dice and board games to the contemporary, globalized video game industry. Guided in-class gameplay will illustrate basic game design principles and issues of representation in games.
