Media's role battling misinformation is critical

"The COVID-19 pandemic exposed many things about humankind: a lack of hygiene, our need for socialization and our ability to survive the work week without paying for overpriced coffee.
For journalism, it exposed the necessity for better reporting on science and medicine where there are topics that are often misunderstood by the public.
For years, journalists have battled with the notion of 'fake news,' but the global pandemic presented the industry with an unprecedented wave of misinformation.
