Tuition & Finances

As a professional program, MMJC does not offer a funding package. To offset financial challenges for students, FIMS and Western University have a wide range of financial assistance opportunities. Please browse the information below for award, bursary, scholarship and loan options.

The MMJC program is completed in three terms, and thus you’ll pay only three semesters of tuition as opposed to four in traditional, research-based master's programs. You'll also be ready to enter the job market a year sooner.

Financial Information for MMJC students

Tuition & Fees for the Master of Media in Journalism & Communication program are set by the University. For full information, visit the Office of the Registrar's Fee Schedules page to see the tuition schedules. Fee schedules for the coming fall are normally published online in early August.

The MMJC program utilizes professional programs such as Audition, Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere. Proficiency in these programs is a valuable skill to add to your professional resume. Students who do not already have an Adobe Creative Cloud licence will be required to purchase one for the duration of the program.

The MMJC program distributes over 20 donor-funded awards each fiscal year, totalling close to $90,000. The funds are made possible by generous donations from alumni, corporations, foundations, and other friends of Western in support of scholarships.

The School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies also maintains a comprehensive listing of both internal and external funding sources. This includes grants, bursaries and workstudy programs.
