FIMS has a unique origin story. In the late 1990s, Western’s graduate schools of Library and Information Science and Journalism came together to form the Faculty of Information and Media Studies (FIMS).

If you graduated from one of these programs—dating back to 1945—you are part of the FIMS alumni community. That includes graduates of GSLIS, SLIS, and Journalism programs at the BA and MA level. And we’re proud to have you with us.

Today, FIMS continues to build on these foundations. From early programs to more recent degrees across media, information and communication, our alumni community spans generations of thinkers and creators.
