MIT 3441F/G   Special Topics in MIT: Dystopia: Dragons, Zombies, Killer Robots and the Thought Police

Course Description
The corruption and breakdown of society into a dystopia is regular theme in science fiction, horror, and fantasy narratives. This course will examine a number of dystopian narratives in literature, film, TV, and comics to answer two questions:  what are the social, political and economic causes of the descent into dystopia, and to what extent does the technoculture seen in the story accentuate this descent?
