MIT 3439F/G   Special Topics in MIT: Pop Music and/as Cultural Labour

Course Description
This class examines social, legal, discursive, and economic structures that characterize the production
of music in commercial contexts. Commercial music-making takes place in numerous contexts, and
this class will encounter, observe, and analyze live performance as a site of music making. A primary
focus here will be on recording artists as creative workers and as working people.
