Course Description
Contempoary capitalism is constantly skirting the edge of disaster.  Yet, it is the promise of catastrpohe that not only propels the system forward, it is our continuing belielif in its abiliyt to save us from doom, both tangible and abstract, that allows it to accumulate greater authority.   This course will investigate what it is to live under such a system by exploring the impact of Disaster Capitalism and its contuing reformation of the modern subject.   Topics include, but are not limited to: technology and the abdication of responsibility; the erosion of altruism; state terror; the spectacular reification of authority and its expansion in the wake of crisis.
