Course Description
The course takes a critical look at how news organizations in core countries and cities cover stories about issues in international, domestic and non-geographic margins. Examples of these include developing countries, the Canadian Arctic and aboriginal people. Journalism plays a critical role in helping us to understand our world, but news organizations consistently do a poor job of informing audiences about issues from the margins. In this course, you’ll learn to think critically about news coverage and generate ideas about how news organizations can do a better job of giving a voice to the voiceless.
