LIS 9836   Social Capital: Theory & Methods

Course Description

This course examines the theories and methods related to social capital. Students will learn how to apply the concepts and methods of social capital to the study of social connections, the mobilization of resources, and the prosperity of communities in various LIS fields of research including knowledge management, online communities, information seeking, health networks, adoption and use of information technology and community social capital. 

Students will apply the concept to their own research through in class presentations and final papers.
