Advanced Communications

Course Description
Building on the skills from the first semester, students will produce professional-level communications stories and strategies. Using the case study method, students will explore how organizations handle challenging communication issues such as:
•crisis communications
•strategic planning
•branding
•ethical practice
•generating public support for your organization's mission
•working with media and developing fruitful relationships
The final project will be a major component of the student’s digital portfolio.
Students will be required to register in this course OR 9201- The Newsroom: Reporting Essentials for Today's Journalists. Both of 9201 or 9202 can be taken, if you take one of them as an elective.
