FIMS Computing Services is responsible for all the client workstations and servers used by FIMS.
We support Windows, Mac and Linux clients.
We have a mostly Windows servers but an increasing number of Linux Virtual Machines for specialized applications.
I started working in 1984 in what was then SLIS (School of Library and Information Science) after receiving my MLIS degree.
In 1986, the school became GSLIS (Graduate School of Library and Information Science) and in 1997 we merged with Journalism to become FIMS.
I also teach part-time in the FIMS program.
In the fall I will be teaching DIGICOMM 2203A/B Introduction to Web Design and Digital Imaging for the first time.
I started in 2007 with the course Evolution of the Internet that I co-developed and co-taught with Judy Steward.
It was intended to be a more advanced introductory introduction to technology that would replace the old LIS 505 Information Systems and Technology required course that had been dropped from the curriculum.
I have taught the following courses
- LIS 9731 Evolution of the Internet
- LIS 9006 Online Searching
- LIS 9731 Database Management Systems
- DigiComm 3203 Search and Discovery
