My research interests focus on two separate areas - public libraries and publishing.

I am very interested in examining issues (writ large) that affect public libraries. Of particular interest includes the effects of new legislation like the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the changes to the organization due to privatization and outsourcing, and the various governance models used to operate public libraries.

Of secondary interest is my examinations of what I call 'fringe' publishing. Fanfiction writings, fanfiction community, and self-publishing are all of significant interest to me. An additional component to this area is examining how libraries treat controversial materials, particularly those deemed 'sexually explicit.'
