I love my job. When I first arrived in FIMS, I still had high hopes for my hockey career, so I enrolled as a part time student in 2010, and I didn’t know what my academic plan was. About 2-3 months into my first semester, I realized that FIMS was where I wanted to be, so I changed my focus from hockey to school, and reaped the benefits that come with being fully immersed in the Western community. Two days after my final exam of my undergrad, I accepted an offer to work at Western as a Liaison Officer. I traveled across Canada for parts of three years to educate prospective students about the opportunities that exist at Western. In November of 2017, I returned to FIMS as the new Career Services Officer, and I feel very privileged to be a mentor and career coach for about 900 undergraduate students. What excites me most about my role in FIMS is that I get to: • Coordinate the MIT internship program for 3rd and 4th year students • Design and deliver Career Development workshops that cater to student needs • Plan one-on-one counselling sessions to help each student build their own road map for success • Engage with FIMS alumni to strengthen our network of support for current and graduating students • Participate in major recruitment events such as March Break Open House and Fall Preview Day Thanks for reading this blurb, and you can check out my profile on LinkedIn here:
