Charlotte is a PhD student in Media Studies in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies. Her research interests lie primarily in the dynamics of the video game industry, focusing specifically on the emergent implications of games-as-live-service and digital game-distribution platforms. Other research interests include the commercial aspects of gaming-oriented live-streaming platforms such as Twitch.tv, and the formation of communities of practice around 'speed-running', retro-gaming, and console emulation.
Charlotte originally hails from Quebec City, QC. She holds a DÉC from CÉGEP Champlain-St. Lawrence (International Social Sciences), a B.Soc.Sc. from the University of Ottawa (Joint Honours Communication & Sociology) and an M.A. from the University of Western Ontario (Media Studies).
