The Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour is seeking an individual to join the Haut Saint Jean Regional Office of the New Brunswick Public Library Service as a Public Services Librarian working in Edmundston.

As a member of the Regional Management Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for playing a key role in the following areas: regional planning; development and coordination of staff training; promotion, marketing, public and community relations; development and coordination of programs; and support to libraries.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching and training staff in the delivery and promotion of quality public library service; assisting in identifying and meeting training needs; developing and coordinating staff development initiatives; developing and implementing regional programs; participating in the development of provincial programs and assuring their regional implementation; assisting in identifying library programming needs; ensuring the evaluation of programs and services; participating in provincial and regional committees; coaching staff in media and community relations; promoting public libraries and their services by engaging in public and media relations; developing regional promotional materials such as pamphlets; marketing library programs and services; establishing relationships with community groups and potential partners; attending Library Manager and Director meetings and Regional Forum meetings as required; making presentations; conducting research and preparing reports; and overseeing grant applications and their management.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Studies from an ALA accredited program and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience. The successful candidate will also have experience using library automation software, the Internet and electronic reference tools.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Salary: $48,412 to $67,704 per annum.
