Teaching
In addition to the required course in Research Methods in the MLIS program, I am fortunate to be able to teach in an area that draws both on my professional experience (twenty years as a children's librarian) and my research interests: LIS 9361 Materials for Children [birth to 7 years], LIS 9362 Materials for Children [8 - 12 years] and LIS 9365 Library Services for Children and Young Adults. I also teach in the PhD program, most recently an Advanced Serminar in Information Behaviour. Components of my teaching that I particularly enjoy are helping to develop new Children's Librarians and, through the PhD program, mentoring new scholars.

Research Interests
My core research area, currently funded through a SSHRC Standard Research Grant, focuses on the intersection of public libraries, children and reading. I am especially interested in bringing children's voices into this discussion and inquiry. I also have a substantial body of work related to research methods, with an emphasis on qualitative approaches.
