Applying to the MTP Program

Admission to the MTP Program

Western handles admission to the MTP program as you'll spend your first year taking introductory university courses in MIT and a second year Writing course, combined with a variety of other disciplines available on campus.

Up to 80 students may be admitted to the first year of the MTP program. Students will apply for admission into the second year of the program by selecting one of the four streams at Fanshawe (Interative Design and Production, Journalism - Broadcast, Broadcasting - Television, Broadcasting - Radio).  Every effort will be made to place students in their first-ranked stream; however, the number of spaces in each stream is limited.  If you aren't one of the students selected to continue in the program, you may be considered for admission into a three or four-year degree, or apply to a diploma program at Fanshawe, providing you meet the requirements for either program.

Admission to MTP for upper year MIT students:

Upper year students who have completed most of their MIT course requirements are not eligible for the MTP program since progression through the program requires alternate years of study at Western and Fanshawe. The MTP program cannot be resequenced as two years at Western followed by two years at Fanshawe. Students who are nearing completion of their MIT degrees and wish to take one of the MTP streams at Fanshawe should apply to Fanshawe for that particular program in order to study for the Fanshawe diploma after graduating from Western with their BA.
