Tuition & Finances
Master's students in thesis-based programs like the Master of Arts in Media Studies at Western have a number of places to access funding.
Financial information for MA Media Studies students
All full-time MA students in good academic standing at FIMS will be offered a minimum funding package of $12,250 for each of the first and second years. A typical funding package consists of a Graduate Teaching Assistantship (involving up to 10 hours of work a week) for the fall and winter terms of the first and second years. Funding is guaranteed pending continuous full-time enrolment, maintenance of a minimum average of 78%, meeting the required progression benchmarks and successfully performing TA duties.
The funding package is designed to cover a substantial portion of a student's expenses for the eligible period of funding in his/her program. Funding is not provided in the summer terms, so students will need to be prepared to pay tuition and living expenses each summer.
