The MLIS Student Council represents all students in the Masters of Library and Information Science (MLIS) Program at the University of Western Ontario. Members of Council are responsible for ensuring effective representation of MLIS students both within and outside of the Faculty of Information Studies. The Council is responsible for making efforts to ensure that the needs and concerns of MLIS students are met by faculty and administration within the MLIS program and the university as a whole.
The mission of the MLIS Student Council, as stated in our Constitution, is to enhance the educational experience and quality of life of the MLIS student body by:
In addition, MLIS Student Council is responsible for ensuring that students are represented at the Society of Graduate Students (SOGS). Furthermore, the Council is responsible for the dissemination of information dealing with SOGS and FIMS policy decisions that impact directly on the students.
The MLIS Student Council holds regular meetings at least twice a month, and Councillors are elected at the end of each term, for the next term (with the exception of the First Term Representatives)
