In the Media - November to June

Professor James Compton was a guest on an episode of The Sunday Edition with Michael Enright on CBC Radio on Sunday, June 22, 2014. Professor Compton appeared to discuss an article that he co-authored with FIMS Instructor Paul Benedetti, called "The Golden Age of Journalism? You've got to be kidding!"

Jason Netherton, Media Studies PhD student, was featured in the Western News article "PhD student turns the page on music legacy," published on April 24, 2014.

Victoria Rubin, Associate Professor, was interviewed for the article "Lies and liars: Can you catch them?" published by The Why Files on April 10, 2014.

Sarah T. Roberts, Assistant Professor, was interviewed by Wei Chen on CBC's Ontario Morning on April 1, 2014, discussing her research on the online content moderation industry. The clip is available as part of a podcast - scroll through to 56:14 to hear the piece.

Amanda Grzyb and Alison Hearn, both Associate Professors, appeared in the Western News article "Senate OK's budget, moves it on to Board of Governors," on March 27, 2014.

Sarah T. Roberts, Assistant Professor, was featured in the Western News article "Professor uncovers the Internet's hidden labour force," published in print and online on Thursday, March 20, 2014.

Alison Hearn, Associate Professor and current UWOFA President, appeared on CBC Radio News commenting on UWOFA's report: Every Budget is a Choice: A look inside Western's financial decisions and resulting priorities. Alison was also featured in a CTV London news story that focused on the debate over Western's budget at a Senate meeting.  

Romayne Smith Fullerton, Professor, was featured on CBC's The Current on February 28, in a piece titled "Debating the ethics of journalists & paid speaking engagements."

Jeff Preston, MS PhD student and FIMS instructor, appeared in the Western News article "Proving memes more than digital distractions," on February 13, 2014.

Norma Coates, Associate Professor, appeared on CBC Radio's Ontario Morning program on February 7, 2014. She appeared in relation to her Western News article "It was 50 years ago today': Sullivan, Beatles strike early chords of rock mythology."

Jacquelyn Burkell, Associate Dean Research, appeared on CBC's The Current on February 3, 2014. Jacquie was one of a number of guests who discussed the issue of privacy of public citizens with Anna Maria Tremonti.
