The Opportunity:
The University of Guelph Library invites applications for a Manager, Electronic Resources and Metadata (ERM).

The Team:
The ERM work team is part of the larger Collections and Content Team which builds and manages collections that are central to teaching and research, are easily discoverable, and available in a timely manner. The ERM team currently includes the following established and evolving areas of expertise in electronic resource management and metadata systems: SFX, Primo, Primo Central and Voyager, MarcEdit, LibGuides, OCLC Collection Manager, EZ Proxy, problem resolution tracking software. In the near future, the team will be involved in deploying a new Library Services Platform as part of OCUL Collaborative Futures.

As members of the University of Guelph Faculty Association, librarians work within the terms and conditions of employment as governed by the “Collective Agreement between the University of Guelph and the University of Guelph Faculty Association.” All librarians are expected to engage in: professional practice; scholarship, which includes research, study, professional development and scholarly and creative activities; and, University service and academic or professional service.  

Position Description:
Providing leadership in a team-based environment and reporting to the Head, Collections and Content, the Manager, ERM provides forward-looking, transformative leadership for the management of the Library's e-resources and metadata systems.

Required Qualifications:
 
•    An ALA-accredited M.L.S. degree;
•    a minimum of two years’ experience managing electronic resources;
•    experience with utilizing/managing the following systems: link resolver, proxy authentication, integrated library system or library services platform, and web scale discovery service;
•    knowledge of bibliographic control and metadata strategies related to all resource types;
•    demonstrated aptitude in the evaluation and assessment of electronic resources;
•    strong oral and written communications skills;
•    creative thinking and problem-solving abilities;
•    demonstrated project management experience;
•    strong technology skills, including intermediate level Microsoft Excel;
•    demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially with other library staff in a team environment; and
•    awareness of current of trends and issues in higher education and academic libraries.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
•    Experience managing staff (preferably in an academic setting) is strongly preferred;
•    experience working with bibliographic control and metadata systems and standards;
•    understanding of the Canadian university libraries consortia landscape with respect to the acquisition and management of electronic resources; and
•    collection development/management experience in an academic library.

The position will be filled at the Assistant, Associate or Full Librarian level, with a stipend at the Administrative Librarian level I.
