The Ryerson University Library and Archives (RULA) is a vital support to learning, teaching, and scholarly, research and creative activities at the university. Its primary role is to collect, organize, preserve, disseminate, and provide access to essential information resources. The library collaborates across all parts of the university to foster critical thinkers and lifelong learners.

The Ryerson Library collection consists of millions of resources to help students learn, study, and succeed. The collection, including books, e-books, databases, journals, audiovisual materials, and data, contains materials related to all of Ryerson's courses, departments, and strategic research areas. Electronic resources can be accessed on-site through library computers or laptops that have wireless connectivity. Authorized users can also gain access from off-campus locations. The Library supports an extensive information literacy program that is designed to build students’ university-level research and critical thinking skills. This program includes on-site research support, chat/virtual reference, and specialized classroom instruction at the course level.

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Manager, Library Client Services, to lead and manage customer service for the Library and deliver a high quality level of service to the community which include students, alumni and colleagues in all academic and administrative departments across the campus. As the successful candidate, you will perform a wide range of library customer service duties in an efficient and professional manner while enhancing the reputation of the Ryerson University Library and Archives.

Qualifications

•    Completion of a post-secondary degree program in a related discipline such as Business or Public Administration and five years of progressively responsible experience in a post-secondary environment and/or client service environment is required, including supervision and leadership, diffusing complex and emotionally volatile situations and developing, documenting and implementing business processes.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
•    Basic knowledge of library systems would be considered an asset.
•    Exemplary time management, communication and interpersonal skills to support a culture of customer service excellence.
•    Leadership, supervisory, mentorship, people management and team-building skills including knowledge of unionized environments and collective agreements.
•    Strong attention to detail, ability to organize, manage time effectively and multitask.
•    Strong oral and written communications skills to resolve conflict and negotiate effective outcomes for Library stakeholders.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy, to ensure efficient and effective support for members of the Ryerson community.
•    Demonstrated commitment to client service specifically for students, staff, faculty and external clients.
•    Excellent computer skills using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as experience preparing statistical summaries and reports.
