Head of Data Curation - HoodQ - Toronto, ON

Head of Data Curation - Full-Time
at HoodQ ( https://hoodq.com/ )

HoodQ is a software start-up founded in 2014. We aggregate huge amounts of neighbourhood location data, curate/edit it to be consistent and useful, and then package it into beautiful neighbourhood marketing reports for real estate agents. Our hand-curated data sets us apart, and we do a lot of work to fix up and add value to bare-bones records.

Based out of our office in downtown Toronto, you will be primarily responsible for managing our small data curation team, as well as doing data curation, planning and executing curation projects, and generally keeping our data organized and maintained.

You must be:

-    Very detail-oriented, with demonstrated experience doing detail-focused work. The kind of person who notices typos that other people miss.
-    Tech-savvy, comfortable figuring out new programs and great at online research. You don’t need to be a programmer, but you’ll be working with them a lot and participating in technical conversations.
-    Highly organized and able to keep track of many moving parts within a project.
-    Able to switch between details and big picture. You’ll need to know the nitty-gritty of maintaining data, but also be able to contribute to overall strategy discussions.
-    About to complete or previously completed an MI/MLIS degree, or have an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.

It’d be great if you have:

-    Management experience, extra bonus points for managing remote workers.
-    Worked for a start-up, small business, and/or agile project team in the past.
-    Experience in project management, data analytics, database/records management, information systems (extra bonus for GIS knowledge), or something similar.
-    A strong interest in data and new technology. We’re kind of nerds here.

Not deciding factors, but bonus for:

-    Knowing the real estate space
-    Being bilingual in French

If you’re looking to grow your career in information management in start-ups or tech more generally, this would be a great role for you. You’ll be working closely with everyone, including our CEO, and be exposed to all parts of the business. You’ll also be encouraged to contribute to many different projects and tasks, depending on your skills and interests.

This is a full-time position (salary and benefits) with a flexible start date - spring 2017 grads are welcome to apply. Salary to be negotiated.

If you’re interested, please send your resume and cover letter to christina@hoodq.com . Tell me what you can bring to this role, and why you think it’s a good fit for you!
