Add/Drop
Add/drop information for all departments and faculties is available in the Registration Handbook. For current information, please refer to faculty and departmental web sites.
It is your responsibility to do the following:
- Keep your copy of any paper Add/Drop forms.
- Check your registration on the Student Center by the end of September and notify your home faculty of any errors.
- Double check your degree requirements.
- Make sure you do not have any conflicts with the course(s) you’ve added. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have created a conflict free schedule.
- Balance your course load; you may take no more than 5 courses per term.
- Ensure you have the prerequisites for all of your courses. If not, have you requested special permission to stay enrolled? If you are enrolled in a course without the prerequisites, you may be deleted at any time without any notification from the department or faculty.
- The maximum number of courses you may take per year at an Affiliated University College is 1.0.
- Are you taking too many MIT courses?
- For a Major in MIT, you may take no more than 9.0 courses in one subject area within the 15.0 or 20.0 courses counted towards your BA.
- For an Honors Specialization, you may take no more than 14.0 courses in one subject area within the 20.0 course counted towards your degree.
- Have you taken too many courses at the 1000-level? The maximum number you may take is 7.0 within the courses counted towards your degree.
- Have you fulfilled the breadth requirement? If you aren’t sure what the “breadth requirement” is, please check the Academic Calendar and/or ask an Academic Counsellor.
