Yan Han (MLIS 2000) has been promoted to Associate Librarian at the University of Arizona. Over the past a few years, he has been working on digital library and digitization projects, some of which are receiving international attention. For details, see articles in UA News and The Wildcat Online. Yan was also honoured to be one of the ALA emerging leaders in 2007. Currently he is a working member of ISO standardization of Digital Object Identifier (DOI) as a representative of the U.S. (07/16/2008)

Sharon Gaskell (MLIS '93) retired from Catholic Family Services of Peel-Dufferin on Jan 31, 2005 in order to work full time with the charity she founded in 2004. She has been travelling to Haiti for 7 years using personal funds to support Haitian youth in schools, apprenticeships and vocational schools and became a registered Canadian Charity in order to do more. www.starthrowerfoundation.org She is in Haiti 8 months of the year but can be reached by email much of the time - responses from Haiti take a while. Erin Raynor (MLIS '98)
Erin, who has lived in the U.K. for just over five years now, recently left her position at Morgan Stanley after just under two years as Global Content & Vendor Manager responsible for the management of online contracts and integration of content into self-service platforms on the desktop. Her new position is with The University of Oxford as Project Manager for the Procurement and Implementation of a new Library Management System for the Oxford University Library Services. “Quite a mammoth project,” she says, “but a very exciting one which makes good use of my MLIS! Cathy Graham MLIS '83 cgraham@wheresfrankie.com is now Manager - Recruiting Channel, at wheresfrankie.com, a dotcom start-up based in Toronto, with a focus on building online communities for North American university and college alumni. Prior to that, she was Director of Research at Spencer Stuart & Associates, Canada, a large global executive search firm, and before that was a senior information specialist for McKinsey & Company, a large, global strategic management consulting firm. She is married with two children; and would be willing to share her experiences with any interested individuals.
Lore Cardillo MLIS '98 Lore.Cardillo@fao.org wrote in April, 2000. Since graduating, she worked CIBC in Toronto in their Technical Library and then moved to Rome, Italy and worked at Marymount International School, a private, American, international school, as their secondary school librarian. After that, she worked in the Info Centre of the Commercial section at the Canadian Embassy in Rome, and is currently working as a librarian for FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).
Congratulations to Tonia Huculak (Class of '99) tonia.huculak@hct.ac.ae and Anne Murphy (Class of '96), anne.murphy@hct.ac.ae who won a prize for best English-language paper at the Special Libraries Association Conference in Muscat, Oman. The paper was called "Portrait of a Reference Cybrarian". In her email to us, Anne said "What makes the victory even sweeter is the fact that Tonia and I overcame some incredible hurdles -- like losing the research notes in a fire at my house and finishing the final draft of the presentation about five minutes before we actually gave it -- to get it done!" Anne and Tonia are both working in the United Arab Emerites.
