Giving to FIMS

The outstanding scholarship and industry of the FIMS community would not be possible without the support of our local network of current and former students, parents, and passionate leaders and members of society. We rely on your donations to create opportunities for student learning and development, faculty research, and for the growth of collaborative partnerships with industry. Whether it be supporting the establishment of a lecture series, fellowship, student scholarship or our Graduate Resource Centre, your contributions are essential to the continued success of FIMS.

One example of this support, is Carrie Simmons, a recent Journalism graduate and recipient of the Mary Helen Sweeney Scholarship. A former graduate student in Neuroscience, Carrie soon realized her passion was the media and applied for the Journalism program too late to apply for a student loan. Without the aid of the Scholarship, Carrie's journalistic aspirations would not have been realized.

"The scholarship was like a back to school gift: Totally unexpected, thoroughly helpful and wonderfully generous", says Carrie, who recently began working as a technical editor at General Dynamics Land Systems in London.

For Carrie's story, please see p. 5 of Foundation Western's 2010 Annual Report.
