Short Term Professional Internships (Paid - with no academic credit)
The MIT Short Term Professional Internship is a paid, non-credit placement for up to four months for a minimum of 120 hours. The internship will aid students in making connections between academic study and the off-campus world by undertaking supervised placements in organizations and businesses with media-related or information-related interests, public service organizations, and community groups. The Short Term Professional Internship is not given academic credit, but does show on the student's record as Pass / Fail.
Fees: Students enrolled in a professional internship must pay a placement fee of $300.00, which covers administrative costs.
During his/her entire academic program, an eligible student is permitted to undertake up to three Short Term Professional Internships.

Who is eligible?
Before starting the placement, a student must:
- be registered in the third or fourth year of an undergraduate module or program in FIMS;
- have a minimum cumulative average of 70%.
- have approval of, and acceptance into, an internship placement.
How will a professional internship be monitored and evaluated?
To receive a pass, a student must:
- maintain a suitable level of performance in the position, as verified by the employer through a mid-term and end-term evaluation;
- submit a 5-6 page (single-spaced) report at the end of the internship, demonstrating how the experience gained through the internship relates to his/her coursework and program of study.
