Internships/Exchange Travel Funds for MIT Students

Limited funds are available to assist students travelling abroad or long distances within Canada on exchange or internship. Student Travel Fund awards are limited to a maximum of $1,500 per student.

Applications must be submitted to Kathie Hess, Senior Academic Counsellor, North Campus Building 240J. Decisions will be made by a scholarship review committee once all qualifying placements are confirmed.

In adjudicating students’ applications for funding, preference will be given to students who satisfy the following criteria:

The student must:

  1. be formally accepted into an internship or exchange program;
  2. achieve a cumulative average of 75%; and
  3. have no other sources of funding which could support the travel.

Applications for a Student Travel Fund Award must consist of:

  1. A brief statement describing the intended internship placement or exchange destination and the reasons why the applicant believes funding assistance should be provided; and
  2. Sample budget for anticipated travel costs.
