Creation of Creative Project Proposal
Completion of Creative Project. The Creative Project option provides students with an opportunity to undertake a variety of creative work as part of the program. Projects may focus on recording, composing, arranging, and related fields, or any combination of these areas. The creative component may be accompanied by a 25-page paper, which supports and elucidates the work, or an equivalent submission determined by the candidate in consultation with his/her adviser. Creative projects with recorded content need to operate within the project paradigm of record production, and candidates should ensure that all technical requirements can be met using both the university’s and personal resources.
Coursework with Major Research Paper option
Completion of three required courses:
PMC 9700, Interdisciplinary Foundations of Media Theory
PMC 9701, Introduction to Popular Music Studies
PMC 9702, Listening to Popular Music
Completion of four elective courses from Media Studies, Music, or external disciplines
Completion of a unique piece of research in the form of a Major Research Paper of 50 pages
PLEASE NOTE: As of the Autumn term of the 2012-13 academic year, this option will no longer be offered. In its place will be a Coursework with Viva Voce option. Additional details forthcoming.
