Students who are not meeting progression milestones may risk funding, may not be allowed to proceed into second year, or may be required to withdraw from the program.

- June 15: Final decisions regarding students entering the Major Research Paper option vs. the Thesis option
- Selection of MRP Supervisor, if not already chosen
- Meetings with supervisor to discuss MRP topic
- Research and writing begins on the Major Research Paper
It is the joint responsibility of the student and his/her supervisor to determine appropriate deadlines so that there is sufficient time for the student to receive feedback and make revisions, and so that the student’s work can be reviewed in a timely fashion.
YEAR 3
Fall Term, Year 3
- MS 9102: Research Workshop (required, for credit)
- One elective
Winter Term, Year 3
- Remaining elective(s)
- MRP writing
Summer Term, Year 3
YEAR 4
- Final writing and editing of the MRP
- Second reader appointed
- MRP completed, submitted for evaluation
