Progression & Graduation Requirements

To proceed in the program, a student must complete the work in each course in the term in which it is offered unless a formal Incomplete has been arranged. If a formal Incomplete has been arranged, the student must complete the work by the agreed-upon date or risk failure in the course, thereby jeopardizing his/her ability to progress in the program.

To remain in good standing in the program, a student must achieve an overall average of 72% in each term, with no failures. Additionally, a student may not have more than one course mark lower than 70% throughout the program. For the purpose of these provisions, the media components (print, radio and television) of the triple-weighted JOU 9700 will be treated as separate courses. To graduate from the program, a student must also have successfully completed 16 courses and have achieved 60% or higher in each graduate course used as credit toward the degree, with no more than one course mark in the sixties.

A student who has not met progression requirements may appeal. Appeals procedures are described under Appeals Guidelines on the FIMS Intranet: http://intra.fims.uwo.ca/students/appeals.asp.

If the Associate Dean, in consultation with the faculty, judges that a student has not met progression requirements, the student may be required to withdraw from the program at any time.
