Journalism Advisory Council

To establish closer ties to the professional community and to seek advice from prominent journalists on issues relating to journalism education, the Master of Arts in Journalism program at The University of Western Ontario has established the Journalism Advisory Council.

The Journalism Advisory Council (JAC) meets once a year at an event held at Western. During this session, members of the Advisory Council meet with faculty and students to discuss issues of common interest, such as changes in employer expectations, the role of the Journalism internship program, trends in the profession, and trends in news delivery. Ideas and suggestions put forward by members of the Advisory Council help us improve the curriculum, set program priorities, and prepare graduates for employment opportunities.

Participants have included representatives from The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, The Canadian Press, CanWest Global, Discovery Channel, The Globe and Mail, The London Free Press, National Post, The New PL, Reuters News Agency, The Toronto Star, and other media organizations.
