| Gwynne Dyer is a London-based independent journalist and historian whose syndicated columns on military and international affairs are published in more than forty countries. He is the author of War (1985), The Defence of Canada: In the Arms of the Empire (1990; co-author Tina Viljoen), and Ignorant Armies: Sliding into War in Iraq (2003). War: The New Edition was published in October 2004. His most recent book is Future: Tense – The Coming World Order? Gwynne Dyer served in the Canadian, American and British navies and taught military history and war studies at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto and the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst. He holds a PhD in military and Middle Eastern history from the University of London.
