Faculty of Information & Media Studies

The Faculty of Information & Media Studies is home to facilities designed to enhance the learning of students, through access to materials, equipment and active spaces.

FIMS begins the move-in on December 5, 2016

New Building

Construction continues on the new facility that will house both FIMS and Nursing (Faculty of Health Sciences). After several years bursting at the seams in North Campus Building, the FIMS community began the move to the 130,000 sq. ft. building on December 5. The move will continue in phases with most units moving by Christmas. Some facilities will not move until the summer term. The new space includes media studios, flex space, an expanded Graduate Resource Centre, and common areas for gathering and interacting, with a premium on seating and break-out areas for students. Natural light is also an important feature, with large walls of windows found on all sides of the building.

Some FIMS classes are scheduled to begin in the new building in January 2017, while general use classes will begin in September 2017.
