The Faculty of Information & Media Studies is home to facilities designed to enhance the learning of students, through access to materials, equipment and active spaces.
The Faculty of Information and Media Studies moved into the new FIMS & Nursing Building in December 2016. Shared with the Faculty of Health Sciences' Nursing program, the 130,000 sq. ft. building sits on the corner of Huron Drive and Lambton Drive. Some FIMS facilities will not move until the summer 2017 term, and general use classrooms are scheduled to open in September 2017. The new space includes media studios, flex space, an expanded FIMS Graduate Library, and common areas for gathering, studying and interacting, with a premium on seating and break-out areas for students. Natural light is also an important feature, with large walls of windows found on all sides of the building.
All FIMS administrative services (Graduate Student Services, Undergraduate Student Services, the Dean's Office, etc.,) are now operating out of the FIMS & Nursing Building.
